Vancomycin is a glycopeptide antibiotic used in the treatment of infections caused by gram-positive bacteria, such as methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). Measurement of trough levels can be useful to optimise therapeutic effect whilst avoiding toxicity.
