Glucose

Special Precautions/Comments:

Fresh capillary, venous, arterial or neonate whole blood may be tested.  Cord blood cannot be tested.

Caution is advised when interpreting neonate blood glucose results below 2.8 mmol/L, and local policy should be followed for critical blood glucose results in neonates.  Glucose results in neonates with suspected galactosaemia should be confirmed by an alternate methodology.

A full list of substances tested for interference can be obtained from the Roche Inform II Test Strips IFU.

Additional Information:

The AccuChek Inform II meters are not suitable for diagnostic purposes and should not be used for such.

The AccuChek Inform II test strips deliver results that correspond to blood glucose concentrations in plasma, as per the recommendation of the IFCC (International Federation of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine).  The meter displays blood glucose concentrations that refer to the levels in plasma, even though the sample type is whole blood.

Guidelines on correct patient preparation, finger lancing technique, and obtaining capillary blood samples must be followed in order to safeguard the accuracy of the results.  Any errors in these may result in erroneous results.

Users must also be aware of the technical limitations and interferences of the meter, in order to interpret results accurately and treat patients accordingly.
